Nanyang Chen Clan General Association
Overview
The Nanyang Chen Clan General Association is a civil overseas Chinese union connecting Chen clan associations across Southeast Asia. It was jointly founded by Chen Entian（Tan En Tian, great-grandson of Chen Duxiu), Chen Ming (Daryl Tan, great-grandson of Tan Kah Kee) and other Chen clansmen at home and overseas. Committed to inheriting the pioneering spirit of Chen ancestors who migrated to Nanyang, it builds a cross-border communication platform for Chen clansmen.
Purposes
To unite Chen clan organizations and clansmen in Southeast Asia, trace ancestral origins, inherit the cultural heritage of Yingchuan Chen Clan, and carry forward the spirit of hard work, education promotion and mutual assistance of early overseas Chinese in Nanyang. It promotes exchanges and visits among Chen clan halls and associations of various countries, facilitates business cooperation, youth exchanges and cultural inheritance. Relying on the cultural exchange network of the Southern Silk Road, it encourages overseas Chinese communities to participate in people-to-people exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative, and promotes friendly civil exchanges between China and Nanyang countries.
Activities
The association maintains regular exchanges with Chen Clan Association of Thailand, KL & Selangor Chan She Shu Yuen Clan Association, World Chen Clan General Association and other global Chen clan groups. In 2026, Chen Entian, Co-Chairman of the Nanyang Chen Clan General Association, sent a congratulatory letter for the 130th anniversary of KL & Selangor Chan She Shu Yuen Clan Association. In the same year, the delegation of the association visited Desheng Hall of Chen Clan Ancestral Shrine in Thailand to pay homage to Nanyang Chen ancestors, and reached cooperation consensus with the Chen Clan Association of Thailand on youth fellowship, cultural tourism and business exchanges.
The association attaches importance to youth cultivation, organizes root-seeking activities for young Chen clansmen in Nanyang, encourages the new generation to inherit ancestral spirits, builds exchange platforms for young overseas Chinese businessmen, and promotes cooperation among Southeast Asian Chinese youth in economy, trade and culture.
Organizational Positioning
It is a non-profit, non-governmental clan fellowship organization. Rooted in Nanyang, it links global Chen clan associations. It commits itself to clan cultural inheritance and transnational civil exchanges, promotes integration of clan resources, supports harmonious development of overseas Chinese communities in Southeast Asia and serves as a civil bridge for cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
